Row over actress' visit to Sabarimala
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The elders of the Ayyappa Temple are demanding action against Kannada actor Jaimala, who kicked up a storm by claiming she had entered the temple 19 years ago and even touched the idol of the presiding deity.
They are also demanding a probe into the matter. Jaimala's statement has triggered a row as women are not allowed to enter the sanctum sanctorum.

Tradition has it that women of child-bearing age (between puberty and menopause) are barred because Lord Ayyappa was a yogi and didn't like women coming in for darshan.
Peers of the Travancore Devaswom Board have taken a serious view of Jaimala's "confession", which they view as desecration. The elders say this has displeased the Lord.
The Devaprasnam (astrological invocation of God's Will) held last week manifested the deity's displeasure with many things, including the "women's presence in sanctum sanctorum", Devaswom Board president G Raman Nair said.
